The start of an unknown journey...

Welcome to My MJ Helping Hand Blog!

Hello, my name is Michelle Josephine Farrelly, when I was first looking for a company name, I wanted 'A helping Hand' but it was taken, so I settled with 'MJ Helping Hand', which represent my name Michelle Josephine. Little did I know at the time, this was meant to be, there will never be enough healers in this world no matter what the modality is, you, the client, have to trust the practitioner and it is the practitioner's job to make you feel as safe and supported as possible for your true self to be able to come out and be heard.

I do not believe there is competition in this realm as every practitioner brings their own personal touch to the session. Theodore Roosevelt: “Comparison is the thief of joy.” My good friend Andrew's favorite saying!

'A Helping hand' to me is all anyone needs. No judgement, no force just simply a helping hand, to help us through anything that life throws our way. When you come for a session at MJ Helping hand you are receiving that gentle helping hand from me.

We all need something, but that something can vary and more often than not, it's actually something small. The problem normally is we have not learnt how to ask for help or even have words to describe the 'lack of' feeling we have inside.

I am originally from Ireland. I moved to Australia in 2009 and have worked predominantly in Project Controls and Project Management in the construction industry.

First BCST treatment

I first experienced Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy (BCST) treatments in February 2018, to say the treatments helped me would be an understatement. Receiving regular BCST treatments changed the course of my life to which I will be forever grateful. Never in my wildness dreams did I think this was how my life was going to end up, but we have to trust that what's for us won't pass us no matter how bumpy the journey might be!

The need to learn BCST

After injuring my left ankle in March 2019 during a Gaelic Football match in Brisbane (Hon the Easts Celts), a physio I was receiving treatment from at the time diagnosed me with a torn ligament. Several weeks later I found out I had an avulsion fracture and the doctor said I'd need surgery, as I should have been in a moonboot since the match, needless to say I did not go back to the physio. I turned to my BCST practitioner at the time (Ken Gordon, Mind Body Healing Centre) to ask for help to heal my ankle. Ken told me it was not my ankle that was the problem, my hip was locked. I received multiple treatments from Ken and Nadia Macdonald (Home to Healing). Their treatments healed my ankle and I never needed to have an operation. At that point I knew I had to learn this beautiful modality! The decision wasn't made over night these things take time, as it was a big commitment $10,000 and two years studying but I took it seminar by seminar and soon the seminars became a non-negotiable. It was a personal development journey for me in the beginning.

Non-negotiable studying

I commenced studying this gentle therapy in February 2021 while working full time as a Project Manager for Seqwater. Every two months I took 2-3 days off work to complete a 4-5day course over a weekend, I done this for two years. I had an amazing team and supportive mentors (shout out to the CEW crew, Sascha Kurz and Barbara van Heerden) I completed the required BCST 10 Seminars in April 2023.

At a minimum I have been and will continue to learn and complete additional seminars from different teachers each year. Albert Einstein: 'The more I learn, the more I realize how much I don't know.'

My clients

I have the privilege of working with clients across Australia, Ireland and beyond, over 30% of my clients are men and I love working with children especially newborns and mothers combined. I set up MJ Helping Hand in July 2022 in a part time capacity and now have over 100 clients in my database and have provided over 370 treatments to date. I have always had an innate ability to connect with people. Finding BCST and connecting with people at this level is a passion of mine that I am so grateful for finding.

My mission

My mission is to reach as many people as possible to promote the importance of having a personal resource list. BCST is just one option on that resource list, empowering people to help themselves outside of the treatments is key. Helping clients to achieve balance through empowering them and teaching them how to listen to their own bodies and regulate their nervous system is key to heal themselves. This is done by truly meeting the clients where they are at, hearing them at a deeper level and holding a safe, supporting space for them, some clients have never had this before.

Anyone that knows me knows I'm a talker not a texter, so this blog is going to be fun! Head over to my Instagram page to see some 'lives' I've put up on topics that are relevant to life and cranio. BCST for short I refer to as cranio.

Please feel free to comment and give any feedback or if you have any questions on cranio let me know.

Bye for now, remember two things:

  1. Balance is key in everything you do in life

  2. Life does not have to be difficult it's our belief system that needs to change

Thank you for taking the time out to read, I'll aim to make them shorter in future :)
